Crafting Festive Cards with Simon Hurley’s North Pole Friends

Hey Crafty Friends! Christmas in July is here, and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into the holiday spirit early this year! I have started with North Pole Friends by Simon Hurley, a delightful set that Spellbinders released in 2025 and is still available for all of us crafters. With its whimsical designs and charming characters, this set makes it a joy to create festive cards for loved ones. I love making Christmas cards, and I find that getting ahead every year allows me to truly savor the creative process without the usual last-minute rush. There’s something incredibly gratifying about planning ahead, selecting beautiful paper, and blending colors that capture the magic of the season. I can’t wait to share more ideas and inspirations as I work through this project!

North Pole Friends features 4 different die sets, each one uniquely designed to bring the spirit of the holiday season to life. I am using 2 of them, specifically The Clauses and Santa Elves, to craft these delightful cards that capture the joy and magic associated with Christmas. With a sprinkle of creativity and a dash of festive cheer, I made 3 beautifully designed cards using these dies, each showcasing vibrant colors and intricate details that reflect the whimsy of the North Pole. These cards are perfect for spreading holiday joy to loved ones and are sure to bring smiles to everyone who receives them.

Card 1 – Letters to Santa

This Santa card beautifully pays homage to the heartfelt letters sent to Santa. The focal point features Santa and his iconic list, crafted using the dies from The Clauses Set. The background resembles a classic written letter, enhanced by the Post Edge Expression BetterPress Plate. Gold foil accents the sentiment, showcasing the Merry and Bright Sentiments Set. All these delightful elements are elegantly arranged on a vibrant red A2 card base.

Card 2 – Jolly Elves

This charming card showcases an adorable pair of Elves, created using the dies from the Santa’s Elves Die set. The pristine white background is elegantly embossed with the Pepper Mint Stripes Embossing Folder. Complementing this design, the sentiment is beautifully foiled in gold and sourced from the Merry and Bright Sentiments Set. Additionally, the white background is thoughtfully layered onto a vibrant red A2 card base.

Card 3 – Cookies with Mrs. Claus

The final card showcases Mrs. Claus alongside a plate of freshly baked cookies. The dies utilized are from The Clauses Set, while the background is enhanced with the Nordic Noel Embossing Folder by Spellbinders. The sentiment, sourced from the Merry and Bright Sentiments Set, is elegantly gold foiled. Everything is beautifully layered onto a rich red A2 card base.
